What is an Electric Panel?
Breaker box, electric box, electric board, breaker board, service box are all synonyms for electric panels. We recommend that your panel is kept in an area that is easily accessible with at least 3ft of buffer space around it. You should know where it is, and how to operate it in case of an emergency.
The electricity coming from your utility company into your home is controlled by this panel. Breakers regulate the flow of electricity. If something overloads the circuit, the breaker will trip, preventing electricity from flowing into it.

Replacing my Electrical Panel?
- CEP recommends that all existing electric panels that are located in clothing closets and bathrooms be relocated. First, bathrooms, water, and electricity are never a good mix. Second, panels shouldn’t be near anything that is flammable or easily ignitable.
- Expect to be without power for roughly 6-8 hours.
- Our work will be completed to meet the standard of the National Electric Code.

What is a Meter Base?
Meter bases are found outside of your home. It is the device that contains the utility companies’ power meter. The meter calculates the amount of electricity passing through your home or business, so the utility company knows how much to charge you. They do not have to be replaced often, only in specific circumstances.
